Local Hygiene

The water is safe to drink on the island as Jamaica has plenty of springs and natural water it’s almost certain the water is purer than we drink through our own taps at home.

Alternatively bottled water can be purchased in shops and supermarkets at a reasonable cost.

The Jamaicans pride themselves on cleanliness, and food hygiene even though some restaurants and eateries may not seem as modern as we are used to back home don’t be misled to thinking the standards are low.

To buy food late at night in Negril is difficult apart from fast food  the only other option is to buy from the jerk chicken hut or the man selling soup or porridge on the street, again don’t be afraid this food is prepared and cooked by real Jamaican people, it tastes good and costs next to nothing.
