Tragic Murder Of London Escort Gemma Dorman
Gemma Dorman was a London escort who worked for the Vixens Escort Agency. Like any escort she provided companionship to a diverse range of clients, but one of those clients beacame infatuated with her her, leading to her tragic murder in July 2008. Vikramgit Singh was an illegal Indian immigrant who booked her services. A brief relationship followed but that came to an abrupt end. Gemma had met a new man and was planning to embark on a new life with him in Spain. Mr Singh could not accept this and bombareded her with unwanted messages and gifts. she reported this to the police.
The attack in 2008 was frenzied and despite attempts by police and doctors who performed an emergency operation on the street she sadly died. This tragic story raises a number of issues. Escort work where you meet total strangers carries an increased risk of attack, sexual violence and outright violence. Meeting perfect strangers can be very dangerous if adequate steps are not in place. However in this case it was not the immediate danger it was the infatuation that developed and that ultimately led to her death. Mr Singh stalked and harrassed Gemma Dorman so there is another talking point on the harrassment laws in this country.
Should agencies have measures in place to help escorts and the police to protect and prevent tragic events like these? Yes, ultimately this young lady paid the ultimate price. Could it have been preventable? Yes. Regardless that she was an escort she is entitled and this should go without saying, to full protection like anybody else. Escort agencies and police should have special proceedures in place when circumstances like this happen.
