British Labour Politician Harriet Harman tells Arnie to close PunterNet.
The Sun Newspaper withdrew its backing for the Labour Party in recent days. Many "would be" Labour voters are now becoming increasingly dismayed and turning their backs on the party. In the recent Labour conference Harriet Harman called for the website PunterNet (www.punter net.com) to be closed down by ex Hollywood actor, and now the highly regarded Governor Of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Even though Harman’s sentiment, we can all agree on, is right into the abuse and degradation of women in the sex industry, what really has that got to do with PunterNet or other adult directories? What will this achieve?
According to Harman "every escort is an abused, drug addicted prostitute and woman can not think for themselves". The lack of common sense we have seen from Harriet Harman is resonated throughout the country and not just in this matter. Harriet Harman has given Punter Net (an escort review site) free national and worldwide publicity.
Like anything in life, you have the true and not so truthful elements. Escort directories provide an avenue for women and men to advertise companionship. If they, from that advertising, conduct illegal services then you might as well close down shops who sell knives to the public, who then go onto kill. There is no comparison we know, but the common sense issue is everything here..
Has Harriet Harman clearly thought out this campaign against PunterNet? Clearly not. Shutting down PunterNet achieves nothing. Any institution that’s works and deals with women trafficking and prostitution on a daily basis actually see the intricacies and means and ways of effectively dealing with this.
Harman might as well campaign to eradicate murder or eradicate war and appeal to nations to close down their armies.
PunterNet does not actively support prostitution or women trafficking. Nor doesn’t represent her melodramatic crusade that clearly does not target real people; but hey its good for political noise and maybe to try and rub shoulders with an ex Hollywood superstar.
Obviously the general public has no common sense. Yes thousands of pimps are sitting in front of their computers, poising as women, selling sex to cleints. She forgets that escort directories share her sentiment and provide a resource for independent women, who provide companionship. Obviously like any market there are criminal elements. You are not going to close down the Yellow Pages because bogus builders advertise on there are you!.
Harman is doing her best to alienate the people who are on her side and are more informed about the subject matter than she will ever be!
Shutting down resources will only drive these women to the dark underbelly. Escort directories make it clear to see. Come on, its like a criminal walking down the street holding a gun. Even if that gun was an imitation, the police will still respond in the hardest manner.
So you have to ask yourself if PunterNet was actually doing something wrong, they wouldn’t be doing it on the web.
Has Harriet Harman made a list of everybody on that site and ensured they will be given counselling and support? Oh no. Shut it down. That’ll work!
We hope Labour come back, but next time without Harriet Harmen because she is Harming their election chances.
Again, escort directories share the sentiment of Harriet Harman. We hate pimps, we hate people that abuse women, we hate women traffickers. Who wouldn’t, apart from the people responsible. We just have enough common sense to understand there are actually adults, who provide companionship services to men.
We are all adults here. We can think for ourselves. There are actually women out there, not controlled, not abused who are lawyers, doctors you name it who are escorts. Prostitutes and escorts need differentiation.
We don’t want another Sir Paul Condon, we want somebody with a vision who make peoples lives better. The Equalities Minster forgets about equality and everybody has a view, plus common sense.
Prostitution has been around since the dawn of mankind. It doesn't mean it should not be combatted.
However it has to be in a very smart way. Harriet Harman calling for Governor Schwarzenegger to close down PunterNet; not very smart.
Speaking to a couple of members for womens rights they feel this is not the way to tackle a long standing, intricate and historical problem.
Start with PunterNet? How about starting with the pimps, the scum who control and abuse these women. Shut down the pimps or simply shut up and help Labour win the next election.
